Rotte ST+hardwire on risers with T4 boots sounds like a great combo.
I always mix up telemark and parallel turns, depending on where I am, how I'm feeling and what conditions are like.

Re: Madshus Panorama 78
Hit uphill day at Spirit Mountain on Monday after 14 inches on Sunday. Was hoping for some powder, but the hill faces south unfortunately and it was mostly firm with a few glazed spots. Did one round trip with the M78'S and yes this ski needs soft snow. It was difficult to get on edge. I went too the truck and swapped out for my SB98'S and they climbed slightly better and were much better for getting on edge. On firm conditions it's the SB98 all the way. Stiffer, thinner and better edge hold.

Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.
