Don't know if there is any interest, but I ran across this and figured I'd repost here:

It's called skiboards... There is a lot of companies doing this, some doing BC ones... Maybe not 24cm large... 8-)

Go big or go home! 240mm waist! Now THAT"S A SKI!

I'm not sure I could actually ski on those ones. Maybe I could waddle along like a duck, but ski?

When I see stuff like this I keep thinking about the Siberian skis. They are probably 120mm wide (half this) with permanent skins (reindeer or moose hide). Short - about 20cm or so less than the height of the skier. No sidecut, no camber. Just gentle but tall tips for trail breaking.

Local gear shop has some of these in stock... so tempted to mount them with a 3pin...

Review of a much earlier version:

I wish these had a patterned base, and came with pre-sized skins... but, but but...

A universal would also be nice, would allow for hiking, crampons, etc... but the 3pin would be useful with either my old Karhu boots.

I've been looking to get my hands on WAPs for quite some time... The north american distributor received a shipment very late in december... They sold everything on the spot... They are waiting for a new shipment in January...

Reminds me of....

(Not really a skiing documentary, exactly, but definitely worth a watch! Makes me want to set out on some fat homemade skis and trap critters in the far north.)

I see a ski as short as the WAP as purely utilitarian- incredible float and manouverability- but not long enough to offer any serious stability for XC or downhill skiing.

The KAR 147 would be the ski I would want- yeah narrower than the WAP, but similar float + stability for XC and downhill.
