This is the World Famous TelemarkTalk / TelemarkTips / Telemark Francais Forum, by far the most dynamic telemark and backcountry skiing discussion board on the world wide web since 1998. East, West, North, South, Canada, US or Europe, Backcountry or not. https://telemarktalk.com/
I just stumbled on this forum. I am looking forward to plowing through the threads to get some much needed tips. My daughter and I have spent about half of our ski season on tele gear. We started to self teach each other last year here and there on some very old gear. This year we swapped to some more user friendly stuff because we have been having a hell of a lot of fun. I thought I would share my learning to ski bumps vid that we made over a period of a week of skiing. All I have to say, is it has been a long time since I took such a beating on skis. It was awesome Pete

Hey nice vid Peter!
Bumps are always the most challenging thing when you start tellying... You guys are not doing bad at all...!
Just keep the body facing downhill and initiate the turn with the lower body...
Great advice about the body. It took a bit for me start to understand that my upper body was causing all my issues. I cold turn left but right was a mess. I thought I had a lame left leg, then I realized the over turned body was causing the issues. We a have been so focused on our tele feet that we completely forgot about the rest of our body. Basic stuff but so easy to forget. Pete

Yeah you can see it in the first part of your video... Your whole body is trying to make the turn... If you keep your upper body facing the fall line, your legs will just snap back into the next turn more easily...

Yep, dat's true, also see lazy telemark - I hope that humble scribbling might still help.
