Looking for recommendations for a new pair.

Type III+.

Want an all mountain ski that can be driven hard, great in sierra snow, won't wash out in moguls, and has a twin tip.

My current skis and what I like or don't like about them:

2003 Super Stinx: The best ski I've ever owned. These rock in the moguls, can be driven hard, will plow through anything. Fun on steeps, in the powder, and in the park. The only think I don't like about them is they don't have a twin tip, and they are getting old and have lost camber.

2005 Piste Pipe: Good for sliding rails, average or worse at everything else.

~2007 Hippy Stinx: Fun for riding switch or in wide-open crud and pow. They're otherwise pretty good but you really have to stay on top of them or they will get away from you. They wash out all over the place in moguls and are hard to tame on steeps.

Not married to K2 by any means, I just had such a great experience with the Super Stinx I was hoping for a repeat.

My boots are Scarpa T2X, and I love them, if that matters in your recommendation.

A friend , a sometimes heli-ski guide, says try the K2 Hellbents..
Don't know about the bumps part, but he's a great skier and skis everything
well on them..so..
T2's would not be enough boot..most likely

What about the Volkl Mantra? Ron, you have those, waddaya think?

Majik, there are a few guys over at Earn Your Turns.com that are really good a recommending skis. Their recs tend toward the more expensive skis but maybe that is what you want. Good luck...

I think the Mantras would be really good on the Sierra..
I don't think they are all that great for bumps ( I don't hesitate
to ski steeper bump runs with them, but I really don't have "bump dedication" )
but you would want to ski them shorter than 184 (what I have)to see maybe..
and , of course, no twin tips for Mantras..

Yea, if ya wanna drop 10k us , and get 200 recommendations,
ask all the experts at E-NO-T..
Seriously though, Cesare over there would do you right..

Definitely want a twin tip, otherwise would just stick with the old Super Stinx.

The Hellbent's look wider even than my Hippy Stinx, I worry they would wash out in the bumps.

I really wanted a pair of twin tips too a few years ago. But I couldn't find anything I like... I like a lot of sidecut for my on-piste skis... And of course they only make park-oriented twin tips skis which are almost straight...

Anyway, I would probably have killed myself if I found a pair... I guess I'm just too old now for that kind of stuff...

You should try adding a WC SL type of ski in your quiver one day...!
