Beginning to Tele

So i'm an Aussie, 22 whose alpine skied a bit over the last 15ish years, but always wanted to telemark. I'm moving to Sweden for a while later this year, where telemarking is more accessible and i'm told actually exists. Looking into it, i'm most keen on committing to ntn, buying some gear and sticking with it from now on.

My question is, as a result of the lack of rental options, what skis should I be buying? and the best way to generally get into it?

Whatever you like to alpine on you'll like for tele. If there are Tele skiers where you are going someone will have some easier gear to learn some basics but you'll quickly want the type of skis you already prefer.

For soft light snow about any ski will do..
Hardpack, torn-up, cruddy, icy conditions etc call for the stiffer skis -- maybe fat , maybe not-so..
So, as always ,it depends on what you expect/want to deal with..
You can ski the resorts regularly with lite/XCD gear, but it's limiting and some days frustrating..
You don't need to spend a ton of $$$$ ; Skis a couple years old can be great bargains and northing's wrong with simpler bindings than NTN that cost a fraction..
Tele gear kinda falls into 3 categories: XCD/BC lite, Resort and BC-Heavy(ier) ..
Sounds like you are interested in resort gear primarily..
If you have some spare resort gear, why not just convert it for Tele as Teledance suggests ??

Ok cheers for the advice,
Yeah, initially I will be learning in resort conditions, so depending on whether or not I take skis with me, I may do a bit of a convert. If not ill have a scout around for some decent past season gear.

Cheers
