I was just checking Telemark Pyrenees for Black Friday bargains and stumbled on the Super Telemark Cable Binding. It's the ST toe piece and a removable Riva hardwire backend. I could find no reference to it on Rottefella's official site, which seems odd. Apparently it was released for the 19/20 season.

Nice! I hope it has a more forward pivot position (compared to Voile) like in the old Rottefella Chili to make it less active. I can't stand cross country skiing with cable on the Voiles, but the Chili is tolerable.

Why xc ski with the cable, when you can remove them and use only the pins? Simply put, I hate fiddling with the bindings, but I like the cable for even the smallest of downhills.

You know... you can get the Traverse riser plate (a tiny 1cm rise) and clip the cables behind the heel pad and no more off/on.... easy solution.

So this is very interesting. Looks like only available in Europe right now and only Pyrenees has them in stock and only in the short version. Adventure Nordique has them on their website but no stock.

When I talked to Alpina about the 75mm Alaska duckbill thinness problem they alluded to a "tour" binding (saying that the boots are fine to go in the ST or ST Tour) as if it's been around for ages... this must be it. I thought Alpina was making stuff up.

I would buy this binding. I always liked the ST. I wish it was available in NA and had more exposure.

It does look like the cables are a bit more forward than the Voile's. I wonder if the patent ran out on the 3PC, as it's the obvious inspiration for these. What I don't see is a way for the heel throw to clip out of the way and just use the pins, which should be a given feature by now.
Just observations, not knocking the binding... seems a good option for a lot of folks.

Awesome news for crutches lovers! But obviously not a new thing since I have a pair of 90's SuperTelemarks with a very similar attachment for cables... A bit different from that new design though... At the incredibly high price people are paying for the Voile 3pc, it's probably a very wise move for Rotte to bring back their cables again...

I'll check with my contacts at Rotte if I can order a few of these just for fun...

From the TP description: "These bindings do not come supplied with riser plates to lift the toepiece off the ski, nor with heel lifts, but both of these are available as options. Available in two sizes, like the Voile 3-pin bindings you can unclip the heel units and use just the toepiece on the flat or when climbing, then re-attach them for the descent."

So I figure you can get some risers and clip them away or remove the cables.

Looks comparable to Voile activity wise... Tough to tell though. Also note it's a computer generated picture. The descriptions still say they use wires but Riva springs and these look like cartridges. I wonder what it really is.

$125 for basic Voile 3pin cable... cheaper than the Rottefella, at least the European prices for it.

Awesome binding!

Opt for the risers if you are doing any climbing. The heel riser (if like Voile....) jacks the heel up at two settings to save your legs. You'll probably will be with skins on at that point.

very psyched about this development! A thinner cable would be cool too but this provides more options. It looks like the cable is removable with a screwdriver. You can put on your Rifuguios and tackle serious terrain w/ the cable if needed
