Hey anybody else here in the Teton Valley or thereabouts and looking to do some touring for turns? It seems the Tetons are chock full of peeps dropping the big lines, and chock full of peeps cruising the groomed track.....and what I like best is kinda inbetween the two.

Been exploring up Moose Creek and Mail Cabin and as I get deeper in I probably ought to find a partner who likes the same.

Experienced, have full range of skis and boots suited to all objectives. All free heel.

Here's a pic of the *only* day I've skied Targhee this year. Yes, I double pole plant, and double pole raise. Picked a *good* day.

Too bad you couldn't get a picture of a really deep run on a bluebird day in the Tetons!

Hey Baaahb, it looks like you have relocated, if so, good luck. If you continue moving East I'll take you out when you hit the Poconos(weather permitting) We don't have big lines or groomed tracks.

Lowangle, I make it east a few times a year (NYC area, family). I'll take you up on that!

Have you found any good places along Hwy 31 between Victor and Swan Valley or along Hwy 26 on the East side of Palisades Reservoir? I haven't skied in those areas, but they are an hour's drive from where I live.

Tom M: Palisades Reservoir is a bit far and the terrain seems very similar to much of the Tetons: steep wooded valleys with long ascents to more moderate terrain. I am certain there are some great spots to tour in the Big Holes (between Victor and Swan)...the trick (for me) being to find where there are no or few snowmobiles. I have yet to explore but that is on my list and I'd be happy to meet there sometime midweek.

Yes, snowmobiles are just a fact of life in this neck of the woods. If there is a pullout, it will be used by snowmobiles.
I've learned to just live with it. I'll do a little bit of Google Earth research to see if there is anything worth checking out between our two locations.

Actually I've been pleasantly surprised to not have too much contact with them, but that's why I want to go midweek. I think there are only 2 or 3 places to reliably park...at the pass and down by the scout (?) camp. The nearby slopes just north of the pass is what I would check out first.
