I went out with with gf last week-end, just after a storm... I was on Madshus Epoch. It was hard to trace a path... exhausting! Because, in part, of the camber ski (and 3pin)... It tends to make the tip dive with every stride. Next time, I'll take my rockered ski, mounted with 3 pin (K2 Wayback).

you need a pair of 3.5m epochs my friend. I'm sure you could extend yours with 2x4s.

You should demonstrate a little more empathy towards my friend Rod... He needs it...

If that was 20cm of fresh on a firm base I would think those skis would have been good for that.

It was though, believe me. It was after the storm, but 2 days later; the snow was getting a little more compact. And it was more that 20 cm that we received actually. In fresh snow, one do not mind tip diving...

I've been touring on wide skis for a while and the Waybacks sound like a good choice. It sounds like you could have been planning instead of plowing.

Yea, exactly...
3 pins on Wayback? Why not!
I've used them this week-end in a bigger mountain with BD 01 and free flex cartridge; for that kind of environment, it's perfect for me. But when I am into yo-yoing, I'd prefer the lighter 3 pins. I just need to add 3 inserts (Binding Freedom) on each skis (adding to the actual 4 inserts). Easy.
