As a backcountry XC skier, I manage to pull surprising telemark turns on my NNN BC magnum XC setup (Rossignol BC 80 Positrack skis + Alpina Alaska boots). However, this week, I needed a boot replacement and found a 60% flash sale on Rossignol BC X6 boots (80$ instead of 210$), so I bought them thinking I could sell them back for the same price (or more) if they weren't great.
So does anybody have experience on those Rossignol BC X6 ? Would they pull a telemark turn with proper experience and good conditions? I know they're obviously not especially made for this, but I thought I could give them a shot.
Thanks a lot

Chances are you won't be able to sell them for the same amount. I've had these boots listed on and off for a few years and I can't get rid of them for $60.
The Alaska is the ticket, thought. Cheap on Backcountry.com for the past several weeks.

Hi there, I never skied those boots, but any boot will work with the right experience and conditions. That being said, I would heed what Woods says and you will probably be happier in the long run.

Short answer is YES.
If you have a ski with some side cut, metal edges don't hurt, and you haven't been ruined by skiing plastic boots.
I ski an X6 on my skinny skis.

I also agree with Woods. If you can find them cheap, the Alaska's would be a great choice.

These are quite flimsy, I must admit. I had beefier ones (BCX11) and they were like slippers... The newer ones were supposed to be sturdier, I was told...
Anyway, turning these skis with these boots is more a matter of experience & practice (and snow conditions too!). Some have done turns with weaker stuff (Steve Barnett, Telehiro, HiyokoD, etc) even with straight edgeless skis... Look at this:
I have a pair of these skis... 3/4 edges, almost straight. Man, they are hard to turn...

Thanks for the input everybody! Alaskas are truly unbeaten. I'll keep you guys updated with how good/bad these BC X6 are then.
As for this particular video, I have to say it's quite impressive. That guy would clearly be able to telemark those X6! Because of you, I just went through all of Telehiro's videos. Didn't know Japan had an active backcountry skiing community...
P.S: @Rodbelan -Mais quelle signature incroyable.

Ben oui... Il n'y a que les Quebecers qui comprennent...
Es-tu à Québec même?
Va voir aussi HiyokoD; il y a plusieurs élèves de Telehiro qui versent des vidéos de leurs exploits sur Youtube...

I have these boots. They are great for what I do, but I don't do telemark turns and few other turns. Skis are Alpina Discovery 68's, somewhat narrower than what you have.

@satsuma , Telemark turns would be more difficult to achieve on 68mm skis, but by experience, with the right conditions, I'm sure you could try. They're however much easier on 80mm + skis like mine.
