So there was this 50mm (7mm thick) racing norm. And the 50mm (12mm thick) touring norm. I think there was a 38mm too at some point... And there was also the 71mm nordic norm for kids and the larger 79mm nordic norm.

But what is it about the actual 75mm Nordic Norm? What about the official duckbill thickness? As previously discussed in this thread, I have problems with the latest Voile bindings. I measured all my 75mm boots and they all have different duckbill thickness, from 15mm to 19mm.

My old XC leathers are all 15mm, which is perfect for the old "rat trap" bindings... But my new 250$ Alpina boots are also 15mm, and they are too thin to fit the latest Voile 3-pin bindings.

According to Voile, their 3-pin binding "has a 3-pin bail height to accommodate a 13-19mm thick duckbill telemark boot. You can use this binding with virtually all telemark boots available". Obviously, that is not the case.

I need to unpack my old cross-country books and do some research... I couldn't find anything related to the NN duckbill thickness in Google patents... Was there ever a thickness standard for the 75mm NN?

They are right, you CAN use their bindings with all of the boots that are ACTUALLY made to follow the 75mm standards..but they have no control over the boot making..
