yeah its a bit off-topic for a Tele forum, but enough of you have heard me yammering on and on about running trail races, so I figured I'd share a video of the first race of the season.

it was an 11 mile classic "Beast Coast" race. 2 laps, 2,000ft vert, very technical with plenty of rocks and roots. this video only shows lap 1. I felt great, but I was soooo slow on the very technical sections. I had both ankles heavily taped, but I simply was not willing to risk a sprained ankle...so people I passed going up, often passed me going down.

I ended up placing 14th overall out of 55, and was 2nd in my age group. I was surprised by this result. I thought I was slower than that.

the long climbs reminded me of skinning uphill this winter: full gas effort, then recover where you can.
