What's a good skinny xcd ski for east coast ice?

Can the Glittertind hold up, or is it too soft torsionally? I know there are tons of old tele skis that would work... but what new?

Also for something like that I'd prefer wax base.

I've been looking for a ski like that for a long time...

The Glittertinds hold well on the groomers, even if they are super soft. But they're a bit hard to turn on hard pack because of the camber... I'm dreaming of a single camber skinny ski too. (But I don't wanna pay 150$ on ebay for 30yo Elan skis...) And I'd like a short radius too...

It's weird because camber is one of the most important thing when picking a XCD ski. And absolutely no XC ski manufacturer mention anything about camber on their websites.

OK I'm going to give mine a shot before I shell out any money.

I have an itch to practice more and access to night skiing... the only issue is ICE!

The other thing is I'm a little worried I'm going to rip up my bases and scales on that crap because I like XC skiing in these... oh well...

^^ Geeze you 2! Just go buy some old alpine boards from the 80's or 90's at any local thrift... (they are XCD if you wax them for some grip in the centers) ..They go for 5 -10 bux around here and OFTEN barely used..They will have an 85-65-75 profile , give or take, and with a pin binding they are certainly relatively light!
BTW, Aplina Lite terrains are very skinny in the center and basically single camber + ..They handle ok on harder or packed snow..

Are groomers ski, but with full metal edges. Pretty stiff, could be downsized. Very good for skating
on icy tracks or on spring ice. I use them paired with skating pilot SNS

The thing is that old skis are like 4 times heavier than what we ski today for XCD... And the thing with Lite Terrains is they don't do a waxable version...
There is no such ski Mike... Only in my dreams... Who would buy this in 2014 except us, Eastern XCD clowns? But hey, please, keep looking, keep asking. You're pretty good at solving things... And I really want a pair of those skis, if they exist!

My main XCD resort skis for leathers are Tua Nitrogens. Not so light, but lighter than any most alpine ski.

I just want something that will translate my technique to 'real skiing' i.e. in the woods.

I'm not really looking forward to falling on ice again... my bones were much younger last time I did that

I think those skis GFWP linked are double camber, but I translated it and it doesn't say for sure. Fischer isn't big on telling you anything about that.

Johnny, if I find a ski like that I'll surely tell you first and I'm sure you'll be the only one who will care!

The powerlight are dual camber, yess.

Turning on hardpack is, in my opinion, not a problem with dual camber; in worst case jump turns are welcome.
The turning gets difficult on heavy wet snow (the transition phase between powder and corn).

Also on corn a dual camber ski is pretty good. On powder you really wish to have softer skis.

GFWP, (Sorry for making very bad jokes in your native tongue...) it's weird that most of those skis do not appear on Fischers english website. Are those discontinued models or they just have a different name/cosmetic in America?
