filming ski trails & skiing
Biking is a big thing all over YouTube, and I suspect the slick biking videos help draw people into the sport, resulting in new equipment being developed, new trails being built all over the place, etc...
However, when it comes to (cross country) ski trails, I hardly see any videos. There are hundreds of amazing trails all over New England, but most of them have no videos or even photos of them available.
Should we try to change that?
A question for the people who already film skiing: how do you get good ski videos?
What kind of equipment holds up to cold and wet?
How do you produce nice stable video that won't make people dizzy when they watch it?
Also, what are the top trails you would like to film, or see footage of, and why?

making good ski video is hard. making any kind of good action video is inconvenient. to make good videos you have to be more dedicated to filming than skiing( or running). last winter I made dozens of ski mountaineering videos in Montana. I learned a couple of things:
1. if you have the cash, get the lashes/greatest GoPro. the image stabilization is required
2. Head mount camera is the easiest and makes the most stable video...but the viewer sees the trail only, maybe your ski tips. trying to make a running video with a chest strap will make everyone sea sick
3. I experimented with a helmet mounted selfie-stick. awkward, but made the best vids
4. I also tried a hand-held camera stick. works well, but will interrupt your body position when skiing
decide what kind of video you want to make:
1. Scenic - highlight the trail and not the person filming. this would be nice for Nordic skiing. its also the easiest
2. Action - you need to include the person in the video. these are the hardest to make. you either need to setup cameras and ski past them, or hold the camera on a stick.
I had a lot of fun making videos, but they are more like "ski journals" than content that viewers might enjoy the most.
I also have a new appreciation for people who make really enjoyable videos. I know how much work they require.

I do not have any direct experience, but the Insta360 that Tom M reviewed at the links below seems like an easy way to get a wide video without setting up tripod and skiing past it.
It uses some software magic to take drone-style videos without a drone.
