Scarpa TX

Is this boot the same as the Scarpa TX?
Called Terminator X. Seems like Terminator X could have morphed to just TX.
Any thoughts on a plastic boot that has been in storage for 8 years?
Is it similar to T2?

That is a TX, I believe. I read good reviews of the TX, which was discontinued.
Terminator was the original T-1

The original Terminator X was orange, got an updated lower shell after cracks (the original had a matt/satin finish on the toe, but the updated had a partly glossy toe). It was then updated to this black and green model with different buckles, before it was discontinued and just the higher/stiffer TX Pro (and Comp) remained.

In the Scarpa line, I originally had the T2 Eco. Then, when I transitioned to the NTN system, I used the Tx (which this is). The two boots were both three buckle and almost identical in performance, filtering out the effects of NTN Vs. 75mm. I thought it was a great boot, and it had the rear attachment point for a heel - in fact, the boot came with adaptor blocks for use with a heel and could be used with a Dynafit heel or a without the blocks a Meidjo heel.

I already have the TX Pro in 30, which some people seem to dislike for touring, which I would be using it for.
I wasn’t willing to sit on my hands, hoping a TX in 30 would show up in time for this year, but maybe I should have been more patient.
I’m tempted by this one on eBay. Downside is shipping from GBR / lack of reasonable return option.
I should probably at least wait to ski the TX Pro before doing anything else.

Should I be concerned about the age of the boot (8 years)?

Nothing to worry about, it’s sold!
My T-4 is somewhere around 8 years old, still going strong. I would think stored in a box, probably inside a plastic bag would be like new even after 8 years

I suppose it depends on what you mean by touring.
I've used both the Tx and the Tx Pro in the backcountry in the Wasatch where you spend a lot of time with the higher heel lift up, and didn't notice a difference in comfort between the two. My fit in both was very good with no real heel lift. I climbed in ski mode (rather than walk mode) with the boots buckled for the descent and never got blisters. I also set the forward lean in both (and in the Comp, when I skied that boot) one notch upright from neutral as well, so IDK what effect that had, other than I prefer that stance for the down.

If you're touring in flatter terrain, that may be a different matter.

The bellows on Scarpas tend to soften up noticeably after about a dozen hard days anyway.
Unless you need the heel interface, I wouldn't worry about it.

The Pros should be fine.

@Montana St Alum, that is my limited experience, based on 45 minutes walking around the ski shop with a T2 on one foot and a TX Pro on the other.

I have to imagine that the TX, being lower and with three buckles could easily be a bit more comfortable in tour mode and on long stretches of flats.
And that the TX Pro would be more appreciated at some times in the downs.

Another of those trade off / compromise situations.

The idea of the Meidjo heels is appealing, but not sure I would ever opt for that.
Not sure how much resort skiing I will do, but have to think the TX Pro is the boot for that.

I’ll go with “The Pros should be fine.”
