So, this happened, to one of my FT62s:
It seems highly unlikely I will be able to get this replaced under warranty, so I thought I might ask... is there anyone out there who has also broken one of their 172cm FT62s and might want to give or sell me the other one? Left or right, red or green, I'm not picky (it's just the graphics that are different as far as I can tell).

I can’t help you with a spare FT. Curious as to why you would go to an S-98? I had an S-112, they don’t climb as well as wax, the edge is more for sidewall protection. I wore the edges on my old S-112 pretty well, and I never dared touch them with a file. There is no way that the air core of the Fischer is more durable, despite your experience. The new FT X is now longitudinally stiffer, kicks and glides better, and doesn’t pool cover in deep snow.
I never skied my S-112 again after purchasing the original FT. The original definitely had room for improvement to become less niche, and perform in a wider range of conditions. The new FT X nailed it.
Of course that’s just my opinion, when there wasn’t an alternative to the S-bound they were okay. I preferred the old FT to the S-bound, but now the S-bounds aren’t in the same league, not even close.

Interesting! I've found that when conditions are good enough for wax, I can ski anything I want to ski on my E99s. So I am thinking something wide with scales might be better suited to the marginal conditions I was using my FT62s in.

I really like the FT62s as downhill skis, and on hard-packed trails. I haven't been as satisfied with them for spring-like conditions (which we seem to get in December now too). Klister is useless on them due to the low camber, and the X-Skins give mediocre glide and seem to be wearing out quickly, for the same reason.

The kick and glide improvement is night and day. I have kicked on hardpack trails without dragging the wax pocket. As for the X-skin, I put it on my Gamme for about 50 yards, I took it off and made wax work. That was with a 45 mm mohair skin. I may order a 30 mm skin, but even on the Gamme I was not a fan
My old S-112 wandered more than than old FT on hardpack, and to me it was a toss up as to which ski had the worst glide. I preferred the drag of the wax to the drag of the scales.
The new FT X has kick and glide on hardpack

Have you considered talking with an Asnes distributor or retailer? Maybe one of them has a sample single ski or ?
