Areas around Jay Peak worth visiting on nordic skis?

Hey there nordic skiers.
Got three weeks off in January and I'm looking for a ski outing. While I'm not geared yet for multi-day adventures, I've heard the Jay Peak area had some interesting trails to see and I'd like you to tell me your favorite spots. I would be visiting with Asnes Ingstad skis with scales and lots of wax -no skins (don't ask why). I'm looking for day trips (out-and-back outings or loops, since I'd be alone and I would not be able to shuttle myself back to my car).
I should also mention that I'm also open for other places near the canadian border (northern New Hampshire, Maine, elsewhere in Vermont, etc.), just in case.
Thanks a lot
