Alpina answers my question

Post by Rodbelan » Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:46 am

I sent a message to Alpina:
«Hello,

I want to know how long is the warranty of that boot... It cracked next to the pin lines — it seems to be a common problem (cf telemarktalk.com).

Is there something that can be done to repair it (if warranty's out).

Thanks!»

Here is the answer:
«Dear

Glad to see you decided for Alpina boots.

Warranty is according to the customer law in country you bought the boots or according to the dealers claim rules (what is better for customer).

The repair for such mistake is not possible.

Regards

That's disappointing. So where does that leave you?

Sucks, man… really sucks.

I’m surprised they don’t have a smoother response to give to people… or something like a voucher for a discount on your next boots (like $10 or $20.. a gesture… something to keep you in the brand).

You should reply, “Yeah, I made a mistake buying this brand. I won’t make that mistake again. There, fixed it!” Ha ha
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.

@Rodbelan , Alpina has a number of boots. Which one is this, or did I miss it? How old is the broken item?
Veni, Vidi, Viski

And I’d back your play, @Rodbelan

If somebody with a three pin asks me in the future what boot to buy, the first thing I’d say is “not the Alaska”.

(Actually, I mentioned duckbill cracking in the Alaska review posted to the Mountain Equipment Coop site a few months ago. They posted it. LOL)

Love that avatar btw. A very clever turn of phrase.

Sheesh. So they basically said: “thank you for choosing Alpina boots. We are not sorry that the boots don’t last. Good luck shopping.”
