5'10" 240lbs and ski curious

[attachment=0]20230131_122352.jpg[/attachment 1st set up Hoks/Alaskas for breaking trail, making trail after a dump and true yoyo ski/shoe. The 2nd set up for early season, stick season with rocks and sparks and for my daughter when she wants to ski backyard style. The third set up is new for me and pretty awesome. I've done a lil bit of it all including lift service... I'm new to the switchback but it's awesome for cruising on the flats. The Madshus is fast but a lil hard up the hill. I might be clicking up the calf savers. Tiaks are great for the Altai skis. I might need my helmet for the backyard as I found some considerable speed compared to the Koms. One day I'll find a ski to rule them all and maybe I'll be slightly less ski curious....This week I'm going to hit up Jay Peak (in the background of all my picks) for the Nordic center and some turn earnin on the downhill area to test the Panoramas for their xcd/tele ability.

Interesting -- I see Altai now offers a regular and a narrow (bail height) in their branded 3-pin, expressly for the Alpina Alaska and similar to fit better (news to me anyway).

Looks like the original model Voile 3-pin, which accomodates thinner soles.

This whole Alpina Alaska vs Voile Mountaineer saga reminds me of VHS vs Beta

Voile just add one more click yo, Alpina how's about a thicker bill?

If you want my opinion :D , Alpina needs a shorter and thicker bill

My 3 pin set up on the koms are 20+ years old. The 3 pins on the Hoks are really new.

I ran the Alaskas in the Madshus today! It was Zen on some meadow skipping and trail breaking. But then I found some backcountry groomers (sled trails) that these worked awesome on also! The Alaskas pushed the skis really well in tour mode on the switchbacks.

Also when using the Hoks the Alpinas with just a 3 pin are awesome ! They are best in powder or at least a little snow in the track.
