BMI is simplistic garbage. Last winter I was 41 yrs old, 5'4", 138 lbs, not an inch of fat on me. Technically obese. I have a 27" inseem and tons of upper body muscle. Also, @bauerb, you're more ripped than I am, and older too. That's f'n awesome.
That's a BMI of 23.7. It's well within the normal. That doesn't mean BMI is perfect, but that's not technically obese.

It’s not even “overweight”. Not that it matters anyway. It will all roll up in the big stat. Provided people vote.

BMI is a greatly flawed and simplistic metric. Of course I'm 26 plus, lean and angry about it   .

BMI will tell you little to nothing about the health and fitness level of a human, full stop.

This doesn’t need to be about health or fitness. Lack of info on skier profiles limits recreational ski length choices for people 190# and up. Probably pole materials too.

It's a worthless metric, about as well designed as the US healthcare system, unless, of course, your whole purpose is profit.

The only question is which is a bigger, sad joke, BMI or the US healthcare "system"?

I was riding the chairlift up the other day (2nd chair — powder day).
He had on a set of skis I had been lusting over, so I started talking to him.
He was about the same height as me, at 6’3”, so I asked what length ski he was on — 192cm.
That was the length I had been looking at, so I asked him his weight — he looked pretty trim — 240# he said.
I was floored — I couldn’t figure out how he had 70# on me!
No wonder the wind knocked me over a few weeks ago…

Towards the top, he asked his daughter if she remembered the plan for the day?
She said yes, and he reminded her that “There are no friends on powder days.”

While I envy still being able to ski as hard and long, as to make no friends on a powder day relevant. I so much more appreciate being able enjoy the moment.
