Boot size equivalence
Boot size equivalence
Is a 23.5 Scarpa TX Pro equivalent to a Garmont Priestess 24 in terms of sizing? 23.5 in Garmont would have a smaller shell than the Scarpa, right?
Re: Boot size equivalence
If you're talking about shell sizing, Scarpa shells break on the half size, so a Scarpa 23.5 and 24.0 are the same. Garmont shells break on the whole size, so a 24 and 24.5 are the same. To your queation, a Garmont 23.5 would share the same shell as a Garmont 23 whereas a Scarpa 23.5 would share the same shell as a Scarpa 24.

Re: Boot size equivalence
Not to make things easier, but I have understood that not all Garmont shells are equal. For example, I have a Garmont Syner-G 26.5 and an Excursion 27.5, the shells are pretty much exactly the same size. Better figure out sizing by model. By the way, as long as you have 1-2 finger space behind the ankle when you bare foot is in the shell without the liner, you can always use a thermomoldable liner such as intuition to make things just right. I'll add that I have a 9US foot with wide too box and both the Garmonts I own felt too small with the original liners, both in length and toe width. Using a convection oven molded Intuition Pro-tour 28 (not 27), both boots are now ditto. Moving up a shell size would have been the wrong solution I believe. Hope that helps.
