Happy winter,

Many snowy days here in the north already, the calm is settling in. Alas, the alpina Alaskas are too narrow still, and I will not tolerate another season of pain! The Lundhags expedition boots have caught my eye, but seems to be a challenge to get them to ship to USA or Alaska. The NNNBC version would be best. Any tips from those who have done this? Obliged,

If it helps I have a bunch of new and as good as new Lundhags Guide Expedition boots, model year 2021:
NNN-BC: European sizes 45 and 46 ;
75mm: 44, 45 and 46.
Most of them have the original Lundhags tag on them, one pair of 75mm 44 are in their original box.
Willing to send to Alaska if a reasonable parcel deal can be found.

I have many hundreds of miles on Alaskas, but my feet continue to deteriorate, and so looking for a little wider boot, (at least for one foot!!) I’ve got 46 Aks (snug but well worn) and 47 AKs (plenty big). Maybe your 46s would be the ticket. Seems like Lundhags offers a wide last sizing regime, how do they compare to AKs?

I cannot comment on how they fit: the ones I have are all way too big for me, I would need European 40 or 41.
Best look up the fitting / size advice on the Lundhags website.
I have not yet looked up shipping costs to Alaska but I don't think it would be a deal breaker?
For myself I now have Alico Artic, Alico Ski March (the NOS old ones from British Army surplus) and old Scarpa T2.

I could ask a fairly local friend who has a pair of my NNN-BC Lundhags 45 to try an Alpina Alaska 45 (75mm, will be kept for visitors) and find out what he thinks.

Prices are tough for the weak $CAN, but the international shipping was cheap for some reason (e.g. much cheaper than from continental EU or Finland...)

I ordered a lot of Varuste stuff last year with great service and prices. However, payment is always a pain because credit card companies tend to flag this kind of international transaction.

I just had some delivered and bought them from Outdoorbuddiesshop. Pricing and shipping were both fair and had no problems with delivery.

Regarding payments from USA / Canada to any European shop: you could sign up for an account with online banks such as wise.com or Revolut: then you could either pay with their card or buy EUR to put on a EUR balance and then pay the shop by bank transfer from that Euro balance: from Euro to Euro costs nothing. Also you usually get better exchange rates, too. Transfers within the Eurozone go very quick: often within minutes, an hour or so is normal.

Couple of questions-
- did you size-up to the 46EU Alaska BC/75 to get more room/width?
- do you wear size 46EU in other boots?

Lundhags has a number of different last designs/widths- which they have tried to simplify in the last couple of years.
They now have three different widths:
slim
medium
wide

But I notice that they have not updated their website at the product-level to reflect this new classification-
for example, the Guide BC is described as having the "Regular" last- which is their old classification. I would like to assume that this is equivalent to "medium"...What I can tell you is that Guide BC has a wider/roomier toe box than an Alaska BC- for sure (I have both).

The Expedition BC has had its description updated to "wide"-

The Expedition last is definitely roomier than the Guide.
However, I find that the taller Expedition boot is better for dialing in a custom fit than the Guide.
The circumference of the top of the Guide boot is quite large-
the lowest portion of my leg is small-volume and the top of the Guide boot is eyelet-to-eyelet when laced up. I have to tie a surgeon's knot in the eyelet below to properly lace them- rendering the top eyelet kinda useless.
I get a better lace-up fit in the taller Expedition boot (my calf being quite thick) despite my medium-width foot in the wider/roomier last...
Over time- once the boot and liner is broken-in, I may well end up finding them too roomy...But for now the Expedition fits great.
I also have the Skare Expedition winter boot- and have used it intensively- it has the exact same last as the Expedition ski boots- and it fits better the more I wear it! So- I expect the same with the Expedition ski boot.
I LOVE these boots- wish I had known about them at the beginning of my career!

The US sizing is completely incorrect on their site:

For example (moi)- a 42EU is a 8UK (correct)- but it is not a 6.5US (?! incorrect)- it is a 9US...

The length measurements are correct.

Tip→ buy two extra wool liners- you will always have dry warm, comfy feet!
