Hey all,
I just picked up an old telemark setup to play with this winter. The binding are g3 targa's and the cartridges are ceased. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the threads moving again? Is it possible to disassemble the cartridges?
I have tried penetrating oil. My next thought would be to apply heat with hopes that I don't destroy whatever plastic is hidden inside that cartridge.

Wrap the cartridges in duct tape to prevent scratching and gently apply rotational force with a channel lock pliers? Worth a try...

If you didn't get this solved yet I have a method that works pretty quick on Rottefella Freeride cartridges when they seize to the cables. Can't see why it wouldn't work for the G3 version. It saves the cables but does ruin the cartridge.
Here goes: I open the cartridge with a pipe cutter. Push/pull the two halves of the cartridge casing away from each other and expose the spring and tee-nut that sits in the end of the spring. Push the cable through the center of the spring to expose the tee-nut. Then I carefully slice the tee nut open along it's length with a cut off wheel in a Dremel (15mm or so total starting where the threaded end of the cable goes into the tee-nut.) Go slow! if you are super careful you won't score the threads more than a tiny bit. If you misjudge a little and go too deep it will still be ok. The key is to do a little, then look and see if you got through. Do a little more and when you just see the threads start to show you know you are there. Next, grip the threaded rod portion of the cable assembly with a pliers where its crimped to the cable itself (don't grab at the threads) and the nut with a wrench or other pliers and spin the nut off. After that I run the correct size die down the threads.
Coating the threads with anti-seize compound for reassembly has kept this from happening again in the future after I install a fresh cartridge. I just checked a set I did 3 years ago and it came right off. The anti-seize even still looked fresh.
I tried to attach the photo of the one I just removed today. It won't take. if you need more info hit me with a DM, I'll get the photo to you that way.
