Hello all!
I'm completly mew to telemark skiing gear wise. Skied a few weeks in total but always rented gear and stuff. I have now bought mt first own skies and spent a lot of time on the interwebs... And I'm more confused then when instarted looking. I can't figure out where to mount the bindings. The skies I've bought are Rossignol S3 186cm. The measuements are 128/98/118. I'm going to ski mostly lighter off piste some piste and park. Where should iImount and why? Please explain so a newbie can understand;)
Thx in advance!
Ps. Skied 16 years 1-3 weeks a year on regular skies so not that new to snow. Ds.

Easy answer - just like Alpine.
Assuming the skis have a boot center mark, and the boots have a boot center mark (NTN) simply
mount the binding so that the boot center mark is at the ski boot center mark.
If in 75mm boots, then measure from heel to pins, and divide by 2 to find boot center.
Or, could ball of foot (BOF) at center of running surface (CRS).
The really good links about testing skiers with different mounting including BOF @ CRS all appear to be broken.

Anything to do with pin line at cord center and the like are no longer relevant.
Some skis might even have a mark for different size tele boots (G3 did).

Hey Snorbuse!
Welcome to TT!
Can you tell us a bit more about your setup? What bindings do you have? What's your boots size?

Thanks for the fast reply's!
My boots are garmont don't know which size but they measure 32,5 cm under the sole. The bindings are rottefella but they're worn so I don't know which rottefellas..
Looking forward to go skiing on friday on my new skies, if I can make them work of course...
Cheers Gustav

Which boots exactly?
Rottefella what?
This may give some insight, too (scroll down the post to the quotes)

Yeah there's some good advice in Bogon's link below...
But if you wanna keep it simple, just mount the pin line of your bindings on the chord center of your ski.
Unless your binding looks like
this one (Which would be another story), just mark the center of your ski at 93cm from either tip or tail. Then, since you have large boots, just place the pin line of your bindings about 2cm in front of the mark on your ski. (2cm towards the tip). Mark the holes and drill...
Of course, mounting tele bindings is much more complex and we could talk about it for hours. But that would be a good starting point for you.
You can also take a look at
this post, and take a look at the attachement...
Let us know if it's working...!

That's the problem I don't know. The boots and bindings are worn so I can't find any model names on either. I mounted boot center over ski boot center. Going skiing on saturday- friday. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the help!

I believe you have Black Diamond Riva bindings (not sure if they're Riva II's or the original, but I'm pretty sure they're not the Riva Comps. or Riva Z's -- in fact, I can't straight keep how many Riva models there were). And it looks like you have Rottefella risers to go with them.
Not sure about the boots. I wrote Scarpa but clearly my lobotomy medicine hadn't kicked in because they say Garmont. So, I've edited that out. I'm less familiar with that brand, but I'll go with the Garmont Veloce boots.
