Looking for an inbounds ripping ski high 90s waist

Feeling pretty defeated by the offering of skis out there. I'm far too finicky.

I'm looking for a 185cm mid to high 90's ski with a flat-ish tail, rocker up front, and some metal running in the ski. A 15-20mm difference between shovel and tail would be also be a good thing to have.

Right now I'm running Volkl Kendo 88's inbound and they are the shit. Solid, quiet, powerful, adaptable. But, I wouldn't mind something a bit more floaty and forgiving for either really soft days and inbound pow and crud.

I'm hyper focused on the Blizzard Rustler 9, newly configured for 2024, but am very suspicious of the deep tail rocker lines. I don't want to be mounted too far foward on the ski, and big rocker in the tail doesn't take to kindly to moving the mount backwards too much-- this is a problem I have with the V6, it has a narrow sweet spot for me. The relative forward mount is too forward and going aft the tail washes out.

So, non-twin, rocker up front, 18m radius, metal layers, not toooo stiff (so no volkl mantra or blizzard bonafide... i think). I don't need it to be super terribly demanding, just solid.
Ideas?

Weren't you on Elan Ripsticks for a while? They're on this list. Or was it the Atomics (or both)?

Anyway, right out of the gate, the Atomic Maveric 95 Ti looks like it has the basics of what you're looking for. Flatish tail, metal, I think the recommended mount is about 9cm back from center, 95 underfoot, 19m turn radius. There may be others here as well. Several do have flatish tails.



This is my M-Cross 88 (flatter tail) at 168cm Vs a more symmetrical 172cm Rustler 10.
The M-Cross is mounted 3.8cm forward of the recommended and it's still 3cm aft of center on the running surface. I started at the recommended and then moved forward. It's not what you're looking for though, narrower, and crazy tight turn at 12m.

Yes, I was on the Ripstick. It's a great ski, especially for telemark. I like the wide shovel in proportion to the tail, and the energy it had. I found the shovel to be a little hooky on the backside of bumps. I mounted it -3 from the designated BC mark for my 30.0mondo boot and it's perfect there. But it doesn't have metal and now that I'm on the Kendos I realize how much I miss having metal in my inbounds ski.

Atomic went to very light and stiff construction if I recall with the Maverick, not really what I'm looking for. I'll go hunt one down in a shop and see.

I'm seriously considering the Bonafide 97, even though a lot of reports are that it is a bear... Maybe I need to step up, which would put the Mantra M6 back in contention too, I guess.

I'm spending a lot more time in the alps now, and the speeds and velocities are totally different. What works in New England does not suffice for my skiing style in the alps. I've turned into a monster

I did see this thread from December. I never found anything that seemed to confirm it. I'm a bit skeptical that Scarpa would go to a single boot that is less resort oriented than the Pro, but I've been wrong enough times that I might garb a pair from REI. this summer. At least I can return them for a year, unused.
