No rush or expectations of course. If it were me I would wear both around the house doing lunges/bends, hold onto a table and get onto toes, get them broken in and get a feel, and then try them when there is snow. Then sell one.

To be clear these are the low-cut ones, correct? Not the expedition?
Yes, these are the low-cut ones.
These ARE a direct competitor of the Alaska, built for the exact same thing Scandi touring (fjellski).

Direct competitor but different design philosophy, though I do not disagree with you. The Alaska's are much more flexible in the ankle. These Abisku's provide much more lateral support with a stiffer sole. Maybe after breaking in they'll feel closer?

I put in a different footbed and it improved the feel of the 40. The 41 is more comfortable but just feels too clunky and, I think as it breaks in, my forefoot will really start to rattle around in the big toe box. Anyone out there who usually wears a size 9 or maybe a 42 in the Alaska or Free will probably fit nicely into this 41.

Sort of interested in 41 if you decide to sell

I replaced the VERY thick wool insole with something a little thinner and the 40 fits great. It'll need a little breaking in but if you are interested in the 41 I paid $227. You can have it for that plus shipping.
