I just picked up a set of Axl bindings and I am looking for ski recommendations. I have been sliding around an old pair of cobras and some 70mm waist skis. I'm hoping to step up my game since these binding are apparently much stiffer, and I now have a pass to a resort close to my house. I'm 5'10". Thanks!

I don’t prefer fish scales at the resort, I don’t like the hum on piste. If you are talking about a resort ski, the choices are numerous. I purchased my first resort Telemark ski last season after 20 plus years away from regular resort skiing. My old alpine skis were too stiff. My 86 mm underfoot skis were a bit light, and transferred too much vibration. I was going to still be on a light backcountry boot. I have seen a lot of people skiing Vectors on Tele gear, but I decided to go with a Summit Cone Pariah. It was much less expensive than the Vector, even more so because I purchased a binding as well. Fey Brothers offer a nice discount on a ski and binding package. I was concerned about getting a ski with the proper flex, and decided that Fey Brothers advice was good. I was so pleased, I purchased the scaled version of this ski, the Vagabond. I was VERY apprehensive of skiing a 97 mm underfoot ski at the resort, but I find it quick edge to edge, and it held an edge nicely on steep Vermont “firm”.
My brain still thinks mid eighties underfoot might be best. There are lots of skis to choose from.
If you’re talking backcountry I would say Vector BC, V-6, Objective, Summit Cone Vagabond, some people really like Kom, Asnes Nosi or Fjoro. The Asnes skis would use an X-Skin they do not have skis.

Where are you skiing? The type of snow you’ll be on most of the time will help a lot with a recommendation.

So many choices, and we don't know much about your experience or style of skiing. If I were buying a ski focused on lift serve these days, I'd look at some Elan's, Kastle's, or Blizzards for a start, upper 80's to mid/upper nineties at the waist. Had a chance to fondle some of those in a shop last year, and was very impressed with the flex, dimensions, and weights; the Elan's get stellar reviews from many freeheelers.
I'd advise staying away from too light or soft a ski.
