You never know...

The lock on one of my Asnes Nansen poles cracked rendering the whole thing pretty useless. I liked these poles and inquired about new BC poles in another post. I also sent Asnes a kind email with pictures and told them what had happened. Here's their response the following day:

Hi, John!

Great to hear that you both enjoy our products!

As for your Nansen poles we have spare parts in our Norway office and will ship them over the pond, free of charge, within the week 😉

Have a merry Christmas!
Best regards,
Simon

We'll see how quickly they come and, if they do come, it's a company I will definitely keep doing business with.

First time using my Nansen pole going downhill I presumably sliced the bottom section in half with a ski edge in the middle of a turn. In any case, regardless of cause, that section was broken in half. They did replace the lower half for me free of charge but did not seem pleased at doing so (maybe English translation?) and it took 2 or 3 weeks, which is understandable for overseas shipments. Soon after, the strap locking mechanism that allows quick release lowering of the strap, which I thought really innovative and in certain circumstances useful, failed, and they won't stay shut on either pole for any period of time (first it happened to one then the other). I guess I can glue or duct tape them so as to still be able to use the strap normally, as I put a lot of pressure on straps in k&g and keep them tight as well. I did not contact Asnes for this other issue, figuring 2 issues with one pole was 1 too many, and will instead rely on beefy straps from other pole manufacturers. I carry one of these poles strapped to my pack as an emergency pole if I am out on a trip or very extended tour but that's all the use they get anymore.

P.S. Good luck with your endeavor. It's Christmas, so I wouldn't consider timeliness paramount.
