Wavering between 200cm and 205cm Transnordic 66. I need a firm shove in the right direction!

I'm off to Kungsleden in late march for 10 days flattish ski touring and I'm about to buy some new crown skis. I will be pulling a not super-heavy pulk, maybe 40kg.
I weight 72kg with jeans and a shirt.
Add Crispi Antarctics, winter trousers, thermals, jumper, shell jacket, gloves etc I'm up to 75kg.
Add a medium rucksack with, water, snacks, warm layer, pulk harness, pulk tracers I'm maybe 80kg max.

Here's Fischer's sizing.
    195 cm = 60 - 75 kg
      200 cm = 65 - 85 kg
        205 cm = 75 - 95 kg
          210 cm = 80 - 105 kg

Would 205cm be the obvious choice? I know everyone here recommends sizing-up but I'm a little worried that with the pulk I'll not have enough traction being in the lower end of the weight bracket.

What would be the ramifications of the skis being a little too short or a little too long? Seems to me a little too long would be better than a little too short, but it's only 5 cm, so I doubt it matters much, but I think your judgement is best either way.

Just going off your thread title, if you need a shove, they're too short. :)

Hi, for what it's worth I weigh 88.5kg and ski the waxable version of this ski in 200cm. My glide is not wonderful, but my grip sure is. My use case is tight trails, so the ski is a little long even at 200. If I was going to open spaces I would be happier with 205 or 210.

With the aggressive crown 205 is probably fine, I was 68kg for years on the 205 and it was no problem, one of my favorite skis. If you're going to slip on steep climbs in a 205 you will probably slip on a 200 and it's time for skins anyway-- but would you want the extra drag on long flats?

I actually stepped up to a 210 E99 xtralite and noticed that the camber didn't change much underfoot, the ski just got longer in the shovel and with the rocker, it didn't make much difference at all.

Really depends what you are more comfortable with psychologically. Also traveling- will 205cm put you over size requirements for airlines?

I always advocate for longer, especially in fischer crown skis.

First let me say I wholly understand decision pain. I literally can't sleep at night when I'm deciding.

Also @Wooderson et al are dropping the science and inside knowledge here, so I have little to add, and luckily these aren't my skis – so I fearlessly say go for the longer ones.
          • -5cm won't change an enormous amount.
            - You can't make the skis longer if you ever really load up your rucksack/ pulk.
            - You're inside the recommendations on the chart anyway.
            - The aim of the exercise looks like cruising and distance – longer skis will be delighted to help.
            - You will just have to buy a pair of shorter skis for when you go sans load for a day of nimble-toed snow-joy.
            - I'm sorry I do not make the rules.

Thanks all! My wife was also having this extreme descision pain last night. Reading the replies was reassuring. So much agonising over the length of a pinkie finger! I ordered 205cm and she 200cm.
I'm 3d printing some pulk parts which some might find interesting so I'll make another thread for that.
