Telemark on light gear Reciepts

Post by Lhartley » Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:05 pm

The elusive telemark turn on light gear, does it exist or is it gorilla's in the mist. Let's explore. Bet this can't make it past 5 posts. First of all what to call light gear? Sub 70mm, T4 or leather, neutral bindings?

I'll start. Dave from Voile on voile SR61 @ 68 mm waist, Xplor and Aplina Pioneer Pro

Today!!! I received a pair of Lundhag Abisku xplore boots. A store nearby has some Fischer S-Bounds in stock, the first place I’m headed is to ski some green runs at the resort by my house.

Way back in 1971, I skied on what at the time was light gear. Three pin and the shoes seemed like running shoes on cross country skis - I guess. We skied in about 6" of old sunbaked powder. The only way I could turn was in a tely stance, so I guess it existed 50+ years ago.

You wanted light gear, here’s leather boots and 3 pin bindings!

Go your own way, the lines are shorter...

I’ve been absolutely loving the SR61 BC all this season. Mounted with Rottefella 3 pin cable and using T4 and Alaskas - mostly with the T4’s though as I enjoy the greater downhill control. It’s a perfect xcD ski for my purposes and tracks a lot straighter in k&g mode than my other AT skis.

I've got some old bad footage of:

—Madshus Glittertind;
—Rotte pins, no cables;
—Merrell leather.
