Mt. Ontake eruption
Mt. Ontake (10,049 ft), a popular back-country ski area in the central area in Japan, erupted on Sept 27 and caused 47 deaths as of Oct 3, 19 still missing.

Bruise incurred by falling rocks are considered the most common cause of death.
