Backcountry Incidents

This is the place to debate politics, global warming, and yes, even the origin of man, whatever. Simply put, if you want to argue about off topic stuff, you've found the right board. Have fun!

$100 lift tickets…I’d be thrilled to find them that cheap. Had an $8 beer this year.

Oops am I out of touch? I just have my Nakiska peasant pass.

Apparently Kicking Horse is 175 for a weekend pass. Wow.

I have a season pass at Deer Valley. Right now, I'm at $35.84 per day. I'm at $59 a day at Park City. I can't affect the numerator, so I focus on the denominator.

But MUH carbon footprint. We dropped our consumer carbon tax yesterday, so now when I drive to the resort it makes winter go away.

Seriously though. I'm really envious of folks that live in SLC. Google says 40 mins to skiing? I guess there's the traffic variable

SLC is an ok place to live I guess. Better if you're a Mormon. My commute to ski is 20-25 min to my private parking space that is 100yds (91.4 meters) from the lift.

Hope you don’t have to push one of those VW’s home from a day of fun at Nakiska Mr. LHartley but if you do your carbon footprint is dramatically reduced. Hell of a great workout for you too, you’ll have legs of steel after the couple of days pushing is done.

Wooly 12- I assume the parking spot is a fee as well? They have them in Fernie but I kinda like the walk to where I toss my skis on, nice 3 minute warm up to get the blood flowing…although it’s usually a 5ish minute shuffle back to the truck at the end of the day…

Yep, my son's driveway. When the snow was right, I could put skis on at the car and skate to the lift.

"Two groups of skiers had just finished skiing the bowl and were waiting in a staging area below the tree line of Clute Creek water shed. A transport helicopter was nearing the group when the pilot observed an avalanche and sounded the siren," the RCMP said in a news release.

One group of skiers was able to get out of the way but the other group of four was swept away into the tree line, RCMP said.:

Cant help but think the heli potentially caused this Avi

RIP

Not a solo incident
