Canada Freedom Convoy

This is the place to debate politics, global warming, and yes, even the origin of man, whatever. Simply put, if you want to argue about off topic stuff, you've found the right board. Have fun!

wtf is your point? you know what: never mind. I'm sure it's just some dopey bullshit meant to trick doughnuts like you.
My point is you are: an elitist, gaslighter, hypocrite, walking stereotype, cliche, or combo thereof. Do you say or think anything that doesn't come from a Democracy Now episode? Even the "putin skis in jeans" sign reeks of arrogance and smugness. I bet you also have some apparel stating "alpine is dead," and likely a trust fund.
Here's a cliche for you: thanks for letting me live rent free in your head. Since you have a beef with me and not the rest of the forum, just send a friendly pm and we can chit chat to our heart's content. Sound good?
Since I did not send a PM after his gracious (ahem condescending) edit indicating we should move to PM, he went ahead and sent me a hum-dinger. I include below.

I really don't want anything from this imbecile. Just will continue to call him out where he is clearly f'd up.

Of course with the caveat that what goes on in his head is the actual reality (seems par for course with this numbskull).

Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for the quotation1:

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Embracing fascism, and power concentrated in the "state", when it's convenient for a particular person, will always morph into a system that is NOT convenient for anyone but members of the ruling class.

We now have proposals for the use of facial recognition software to access your tax returns, vaccine cards with photo ID to buy essential supplies, and no requirement to provide ID or signature verification to vote for those who would rule your life.
This is just a dry run for the level of authoritarianism that will be required to "save the planet".

Hi Mont, Then explain Norway; which is frequently cited in LIbertarian rants as "socialist". Norway has a far higher GDP per capita than the USA even after purchasing power is factored in. EVERYONE makes a very good living wage, unemployment is miniscule. The most any Norwegian ever has to pay for medical care is the equivalent of $200 per year, they have more doctors per 1000 people than USA and more hospital beds as well, their babies die less often and the people live longer (elder care is very high standard and free to all). They pay high sales and consumption tax ,but their income tax is about the same as US . They also have a significantly higher percentage of millionaires and billionaires ($ denominated) than the USA has. So what is so bad with this system?

“A horse having a wolf as a powerful and dangerous enemy lived in constant fear of his life. Being driven to desperation, it occurred to him to seek a strong ally. Whereupon he approached a man, and offered an alliance, pointing out that the wolf was likewise an enemy of the man. The man accepted the partnership at once and offered to kill the wolf immediately, if his new partner would only co-operate by placing his greater speed at the man’s disposal. The horse was willing, and allowed the man to place bridle and saddle upon him. The man mounted, hunted down the wolf, and killed him. “The horse, joyful and relieved, thanked the man, and said: ‘Now that our enemy is dead, remove your bridle and saddle and restore my freedom.’ “Whereupon the man laughed loudly and replied, ‘Never!’ and applied the spurs with a will.”
― Isaac Asimov, quote from Foundation

It's pretty unreal how far this political theater is going. Today the emergencies act was deemed "unconstitutional" by the courts. But our federal government is appealing it because of course they know best even though they're polling at less than 20 percent, run a minority government and have divided the country beyond repair. We have record debt, record inflation, our Healthcare is in shambles, but the feds will never admit they made mistakes. Like, just admit you made mistakes and start working for everyone.

Trudeau et al are very much like Manney in that regard.
