Skiing in summer

This is the place to debate politics, global warming, and yes, even the origin of man, whatever. Simply put, if you want to argue about off topic stuff, you've found the right board. Have fun!

Skiing in summer

Post by DewittCash » Sat Sep 03, 2022 10:27 am

Hello everyone.

My family only has some free time in summer and we all love skiing. So, can you recommend a stunning place for skiing during summer time?

Thank you for taking the time.

The easy solution is to vacation in the opposite hemisphere. The flights can cost a lot but wintertime in most places, other than big ski resorts, is usually low/mid season.

If you live in North America or Europe, New Zealand has great downhill. And the exchange rates are favourable. It’s not so great for cross country (the sport isn’t popular and there are very few places that cater to it on the South Island).

Australia is out, even if it is kind of cool to ski among leafy trees (gums don’t shed their leaves in the winter) and kangaroos at Mount Kosciuszko. Not too many XC trails…. Those that do exist are on the shaded side of valleys (very little snow in other areas due to temperature and sun intensity). High prices… not as favourable exchange rates as NZ.

That leaves Chile… which I’ve never been to, so can’t offer anything on that.
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.

There are multiple ski resorts here in Europe where you can ski in the summer. Tignes, Zermatt, Soelden, etc.
