There is no such thing as a perfect ski that will do it all. Don't let the adverts get to you. In the end, it will only ever be one more ski in the quiver.

Kinda what I figured was just hoping maybe I could thin the herd a pr or two. Right now my Eons are my favorite "do all" ski till I hit deep powder then I'm off to the Epochs.

I would not call it the ultimate "Backcountry" ski... At least for me, the word backcountry involves A LOT of downhill action... While not impossible, this is obviously not something the Ousland was intended for... The ultimate "Nordic" ski perhaps?

I do mostly backcountry touring with some light tele when the occasion arises. Still working on my tele technique. Gaining on it slowly as mother nature has been putting a damper on skiing as of late

It takes a while to learn the personalities of the many contributors to this forum. We are so fortunate to have such a diverse group of friends here. We are joined by a love of skiing. While there are more posts about lighter Nordic touring gear and XCD gear. We have some friends that post more about skiing inbounds. The wonderful thing is they all add to the colorful mosaic that is this forum.
Now I can say, for those of us that have been here for a while know Woodserson is not the guy you ask to talk you into reducing the size of your quiver. We also have friends here that will tell you that you probably only need an E-99, you only need NNN, really only need 75 mm leather boots. Oh, there are also waxless and waxable adovocates.
Welcome Madshus 1! I hope you stay a minimalist. I’ll know who to ask, when I know I really don’t need another pair of skis. Of course I also who know to ask when I want a new pair of leather 75 mm boots. Man I love this place!

I am looking at getting the Borge Ousland for "Nordic" skiing, half in groomed tracks, half for easy Backcountry. I would have thought to get NNNBC Magnums, but I think the extra width of that binding can dig and grab at the sides of the tracks. Anybody used the regular NNNBC? I would think it would be much more appropriate for track use with a ski like the Borge Ousland?

The standard 58mm manual NNNBC is definitely what you want on a ski like the Ousland.

I have both the standard and wider magnum (68mm) on a range of different-width skis.

There is no difference in performance- in terms of stability/leverage- between the two.

The 68mm plate certainly hangs out over the edge on a ski less than 68mm underfoot.

The mag does have a wider binding lever that is easier to operate with cold weather mitts.

The wider plate of the mag puts less stress on the binding mechanism and toe bar when downhill skiing with a wider ski.

I recently mounted the mag on my Ingstad and FT62- not sure that I needed it over the standard manual.

I would want the standard manual on the Ousland.
