Well- I am not farmiliar with what your local "powder" snow is like-
but, it is probably fair to assume that it is "drier" and less dense than mine is...

It would seem that the other BC skiers in your locale have moved to at least ~100mm skis for truly deep powder snow.
V6 (or V6 BC).

@lilcliffy, most of the time, when lake effect snow, it is very dry and light, especially compared to the northeast. If storms come from another direction it can be wet and heavy. Typically Jan-Feb rarely if ever gets above Swix Blue Extra which keeps the snow of good quality, but more recently this hasn't been the case--too warm. Last year there was no scenario where I would have called it 30-40cm of perfect snow (maybe 15-20 max of good snow on top of consolidated/crust/ice/etc, but also last year there was a lot of wet and heavy snow too). Ergo 100mm waist with leathers would not have been a smart choice. But the year prior it would have been feasible numerous days. Will try out the Rabb next season (unless there is a sudden change and we start getting dumped on this spring) and go from there, assuming no sweet deals on wide short skis show up. Thanks for all your help.

The thing that has kept me away from the Nosi is it’s short available length. I just can’t see 180 cm on a long approach. Short approaches (I don’t know that to be true) and the Nosi might just be the shiznit!

Seems that there is a 188 cm Nosi 76 Xplore now. I wonder if the new length and top sheet are the only differences...

I am a little confused as to how this ski suddenly became an "Xplore" touring ski-
after being marketed as a big mtn ski mountaineering ski for years-
and, apparently has not been redesigned and tweaked for Nordic touring...

(And if this is suddenly an "Xplore" ski (as is the Falketind)- why is the Rabb not an "Xplore" ski?)

Regardless- the current Rabb is simply dreamy- and the Nosi 76 appears to have the exact same geometry- just wider.

I remain a little confused as to the "Xplore" application- particularly as Crister (former Asnes pro) stated that the Nosi 76 was a much stiffer, rigid ski mountaineering application vs the Rabb...

No matter- would love to try the Nosi!!!

Euros love their short but big sidecut skis for touring. It's very interesting, after powder snow you see these very little short radius turns everywhere. They (usually middle aged couples touring around as way to go for a tour, not necessarily rip giant lines) hop around furiously like bunnies on their short skis and come straight down the fall-line make tight little turns. It's a whole thing and very anathema to the more high-speed big-turns publicity that we are kind of pounded with in movies and advertisements. Wonderful for Powder Preservation Society skiing. You can get nice and tight right in together and really farm. It's a whole thing and it's pretty great.

I don't do this, I don't think it translates to my style and ability of telemark really, but I see the appeal. These are not mine but a little example in the middle there

Rabb 68 black top sheet was initially called Rabb 68 Xplore but that seems to be removed now...

I was wondering too about the Nosi Xplore name because Nosi seems to have no camber at all for touring...
