I'd like to buy the waxable version of this ski, but La Cordee only carries the skin version. Does anybody know whether you can peel off the skins if you dont like them and use kick wax? Is the base milled to accommodate the skins, or is it just flat? I wouldnt hesitate to buy the skin version if there was an off ramp.
As much as I love them, my 210 cm OG Ingstads are overkill for most uses. But more Asnes is the only acceptable alternative!

I am about 84kg with pack and skied the MR48 in 210 and thought it worked well. Nice ski.
I didn’t ski them much and sold and replaced with Gamme in 210.

Under the skin you can see the sealed wood. There's a hole the depth of the base in other words.

No, the 'skin' version of this ski uses an integrated skin, as is found on xc skis like the Rossi R-Skin, Fischer Twinskin, or Atomic Skintec. There's basically a channel milled into the base of the ski, and the skin is inserted and glued into there. There isn't waxable ptex or anything like that underneath, usually just whatever composite or fiberglass is in the ski.
NNN and NNNBC have the same mounting pattern.
I agree with Master Musky Ox- I would put NNNBC on the 48- I would want the narrower standard mounting plate though (as opposed to the wider Magnum).
Which NNN BC bindings with narrower plate are you recommending? I just got these skis, trying to figure out bindings. Thanks!

NNN-BC Manual has a more narrow baseplate than NNN-BC Magnum. The Auto version I believe would share the more narrow width of the Manual version. I personally use Manual and Magnum versions, I would definitely go Manual on a MR-48

I don’t understand, there are 3 NNN-BC options, Magnum, Manual, and Automatic. Magnum has a wider baseplate than Manual. I believe Manual and Automatic share@edylan similar dimensions. How is there only one option?
