These thingies are AMAZING.
Light as a frackin feather.
Roll up in your pack smaller than the sack of cheese and sausage/jerky.
Slide over my 42-43EU boots like a glove.
Retain heat and insulate from the cold glacial ground.
Lace up and can actually tromp around the campfire and picnic.
With these on over my touring boots, my insulated bibs over my touring pants, and my down jacket over my touring jacket- I could settle down in a snow nest for an extended snooze- just like a ruffed grouse.
-24 to -28C at dawn every day this week and I have been out there to meet it on my Gamme with Alfa Guard and these overboots tucked away in my pack.
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

Hey Gareth!

Questions about those.

Are they meant to protect BC boots? Like putting over Alfa guards for walking? Your insights, what kind of protection?

About those also, could you get a kartank or another inner to wear it as boots once at camp?

And, since I am 43-44 feet, was wondering what size you chose or what size I could choose?

Lastly, can you compare with a Neos or the OR X-Gaiters, or Alpina walking overboot or any relative?

Thanks

L

Nice.
@lilcliffy, a picture of the sole of these, while wearing over boots, would be illuminating.

Ah, I was not clear if they could be skied in.
This makes it clear that is not how they are used.
Thanks @Woodserson

Yeah I was wondering that as well. I picked up some Helsport over boot bags last year for hanging around camp and they seem to do a nice job. Nowhere near as burly as Gareth's, but a good way to add an air barrier and gain a couple extra degrees. A little foam pad added to the bottom helps too. https://en.aventurenordique.com/helsport-footsacks.html

Bonjour Laurence!

Yes- they are designed to be an overboot over a NNNBC boot-
They would also work with a 3-pin-75mm boot, but you might need to size up due to the length of the duckbill-
(I can try my size 42-43 3pin boots and see if the overboot fits)

Yes- I would think you could put a kartank/liner in these and use them as boots.

They are custom-made to fit the appropriate EU boot size.
I can look and see what size I ordered.

No I cannot compare it with other overboots-
I did consider Neos-

These overboots are incredibly lightweight and roll up- they are intended to be rolled up tight and pulled out when and pulled over ski boots when stopped.

They are so light and small to pack that I take them even on short tours in cold weather.

As far as protection- they are furry fleece-lined.
They are designed to retain heat when ski touring in very cold weather (when you stop for break or are at camp).
