Ferreol ZigZag 92
Holy Dinah is this a fun Canadian Made ski to have mounted for Tele. I’ve got them set up with 22 Design Bandits so we’re talking a resort oriented ski here. I’m using a new Scarpa TXPro to drive them as well.
They come in one length only (177) which is shorter than normal for me but for what I want from this ski they’re likely the right length. If you’re a go-fast type this might not interest you but if you wanna turn on a dime these are the bomb. https://ferreol.ca/en/products/zigzag-92
Keeping in mind I’m still kinda weak in the left leg from last years break and just discovering I’ve got patellar tendonitis to deal with in the same leg I’m still having a great experience on this ski. Never been much of a mogul terrain guy but these let me handle the craziest/steepest stuff easier than I could’ve imagined (the same stuff on my Elan Ripstick 96 with Lynx binding scares the hell out of me).
Early in the day before the left leg gets tired I can drop for some great turns (by noon I’m pretty much doing parallel with occasional teles on easy slopes). I’m nowhere near discovering the limits of this ski and looking forward to growing into it. I’m able to edge them pretty easily with the combination I’ve got set up. They kinda get a little squirrelly on me trying to go fast on packed out green runs but have experienced no chatter (they’re a pretty robust ski).
Gear can make a difference- getting these is beneficial to my desire to tele.
Although I already have my Ripsticks for light touring when I look for a more dedicated powder ski Ferreol has a couple of offerings I’m interested in…

The Explo series in 96 and 86 mm waiste look very interesting, cores made of Quebec harvested poplar instead of the standard Chinese Pawlonia offered in most modern touring skis. Very cool! I will have to wait for my Buddy from the Elk Valley to put a pair up for sale

Where did you end up mounting them? They look like center-mount skis, something I am curious about.

Re: Ferreol ZigZag 92
Went with their suggested boot center, seems to be working well. They’re incredible mogul tamers- part way through today I put them on after a couple of hours on the Ripsticks…they don’t float like the Ripsticks but they sure do carve!
Dammit, just checked their site, everything is on sale. I don’t need the Pionnier, I don’t need the Pionnier…
