Hey. I have a pair of decent condition Voile Vector BC 180cm I would trade for these. Better than Koms in my opinion. Cheers. Jeff

Hey Jeff,

That is very tempting, but unfortunately I am going to have to stay with the Koms for now!

@AdamA The snow isn’t always deep or manky, sometimes you have 6 inches on a firm base, you still need the FTX!
I have a Summitcone Vagabond, of course I need to come East to use it! It’s similar, but different from the Kom. I like the Summitcone Pariah at the ski hill, so the scaled, paulownia version was a natural progression.

Edit: It seems like a good deal, half price from new

Great outfit, I really like mine. If I could only have one ski, the thought really stinks, but if I could only have one, this would be it.

Fisheater - a question. Have you ever tried driving the FTX with a lighter plastic boot? Like a t4? I don’t really want to dump more money into the combo, but want something that I can handle a few of the steeps with.

No, I own a T-4, but never skied it with either the original Falketind I had, or the FTX. I have a British Surplus Alico Ski March, that I have used on piste. That boot is stiffer than my Alaska 75.
I have bigger skis, a Tindan (Asnes) and a Pariah for piste. A more robust core really makes a difference. That’s why I bought the Pariah for the piste. While the Tindan being 86 mm underfoot handles mank, much better than the FTX, it just doesn’t handle the firm like birch/poplar/glass Pariah. The heavy core makes a big difference. The Tindan is poplar/carbon like the FTX
So, I have to believe the Kom will handle the mank better than the FTX, and I don’t play with skiing a wide ski like that with leather. If you have firm, would the Kom handle it? I don’t know. I don’t know have my Vagabond handles firm.
Good luck, you certainly are with in reasonable distance of magnificent terrain.
I’m planning on stopping my journey east, far west of you in the Adirondack’s this year. You’re a whole other journey east from there!

On Pinnahs page he speaks of using excursion class boots on all sorts of narrower skis including the category "classic AT" which the falketind might fall into but with a bit more camber.

I'm not sure if he was skiing resorts on these setups but there's a bunch of info to take a look at. The page is pretty dated but skiing hasn't changed other than some folks needing certain gear to define their self worth on skis. And if you're already thinking of getting KOMS you will be pairing those with t4 or t2 so might as well pick up the boots first and give em a rip with the falketinds
