Re: The Alberta XCD thread
30 cm forecast in parts of Kananaskis. Gonna go check out some stuff in west Bragg tomorrow night but will probably be another weekend in the alpine. Burstall Pass was awesome last weekend. I really never enjoyed its short low angle micro terrains before when I'd go in on splitboard and AT gear but it's absolutely perfect for fishscaling on freeheel gear. Any forecast seems alright still with the new snow, pretty happy about that, there must not have been any rain up high

Sad night for Jasper National Park and the town of Jasper. The consolation will be renewed habitats for plants, wildlife, and new terrain for skiers

Marmot Basin did not burn down: "Marmot Basin’s vice-president of marketing Brian Rode confirmed to Postmedia Saturday that the popular ski resort is “unaffected” by the wildfire, adding “all of our facilities, our lifts and everything are completely intact.”"

The new (2019) HI Jasper hostel burned down. There was also damage to HI Athabasca Falls. HI Jasper was one of the nicest hostels in Canada, and probably (if you don't mind bunk beds) the best deal on ski accommodation in all of North America.
