I have been in touch with Rotte, and they are simply impossible to find.

Also keep in mind that if you find some, they are NOT compatible with the current NNN-BC models. There is no space under the newer bindings for it, and the hole is not at the same place...

)-: I should have paid attention a few years ago and stock up on X-Adv boots and bindings.

yeah, and i know last year i was advised (and had read elsewhere) to be cautious about homemade leashes at the resort. if, god forbid, you did throw a ski and the leash broke, careened downhill and injured someone, you wouldn't have much protection legally. i was just gonna make some but then after talking to some people just decided to take my chances without. good luck tho!

I don't feel like coming up with a hack for leashes plus I had the good luck yesterday of finding a pair of used Alico Teletours locally that fit perfectly! I'll try NNN another time ... back to 3 pins.

Would tying a 5-6mm paracord (climbing rope) around the ski right in front of the binding work? or using a thin bungee cord... would it produce too much drag? (What I mean is a thin rope of sorts going around the ski to use as a latch point for your leash...since there are no holes or loops to attach to on the ski or binding).

I would love to try my NNNBC at the resort too but I don't think they allow it without leashes.

The original plates were very thin, and fit a slight indentation in the binding, secured with the front screw of the binding. Something could be rigged if you find a suitably thin piece of metal, removed front screw, and slid said piece under... but would likely be more trouble than it's worth.
I'd check with some long established XC shop and ask; I had a mess of them in the parts box when I was a tech... lots of times I did't install 'em (for folks who would never have need of them). They were somewhat of a nuisance, even when made to fit under the toe.

Tying something around and under your ski usually results in icing; freezing snow buildup, resulting in slower speeds and loss of control. This opinion is based on my multiple experiences jury-rigging bindings after mounting screw pullouts in the deep woods, and includes use of duct tape and wires as well.

Ancient, and maybe hopeless, but has anyone come up with a solution?
I got busted at the local ski resort.
Didn’t throw me off the hill, but got lecture and stern looks.

What makes the original work is that it’s a very thin piece of metal.
The fact that @phoenix said the plates are not comparable with newer bindings (due to no recess on underside of binding to accommodate the plate) seems discouraging.
Anyway, just giving this a bounce, hoping for a solution.

I have been thinking about this for a long time.

Can 1 to 3 holes be drilled into the latch of the manual binding? near where I have drawn a red circle. something small enough for a 6mm cord. and maybe make three holes like a triangle far apart as that would disperse the forces like a z pulley so you dont break the plastic or the thin cord? (dont use if you plan to ski in avy zones)

let me know what you think?

Why not screw a small eye bolt into the ski, possibly backed up with a washer for more strength, and attach your leash to that?
