Skiing with the Significant Other
Skiing with the Significant Other
What says you?
I almost always do these days. It's much harder than skiing by yourself. You have to look out for two people and be careful where you go... too hard and it's not only going to be tough for you, but you'll be fighting the whole way.
I've done the jerk move. Wife got scared on a hill and wanted to take the skis off. It was an easy hill so I told her no way, just go for it, if you can't turn and a tree is coming, just fall on your side. I went up and down that hill 20x trying to get her to go, she wouldn't do it. Finally she took her skis off and walked (luckily the snow wasn't that deep, she learned her lesson why not to do that later on). I was kind of pissed so I just skied off, didn't wait for her. Saw her back at the car and she was steamed. I thought maybe she'd never ski again. She was mad for about a week but she wanted to ski again. Sure enough, next time we came to that same hill she went right down.
It's hard to know how to be... I try to be patient because I'm no knight of XCD myself, but it's seeming to work. She's more into skiing than ever.

Me and the wife are very best friends. She's the coolest (and cutest) girl in the world. She really is. But no matter what we do together, she always finds a new creative and original way to be mad at me. Always, no matter what.

So does she ski much with you?
I'm guessing not now with a bun in the oven. And probably not much after as the baby will need constant attention.
But previously?
PS you better start looking for used kiddie skis.

Not much, maybe 1-2 times a year, if she's in a good mood. She perfectly knows I try to bring her into scary places every time... (Read: Easy trails : )
I already have some Rossignol Radical skis for kids... And Bri7 will keep all his kids skis for me... : )
Blue sky, perfect sun, not a cloud, and about 65F outside today. How fucking depressing?

Ha! Yes, my wife thought every place was a scary place on skis when she first started.
I took her to a resort a couple times, tried to get her to learn downhill. She froze up and cried the first time she went to mid-station. Took her skis off half way down from there.
Anyway she took some lessons and started to get more confident until a kid on a snowboard wiped her out and she dislocated her shoulder. I don't think I could get her on a lift if my life depended on it!
This weather is the worst. We lost all our snow on Saturday with the rain. It's almost 70°F now. I think I started to sweat a little bit walking to my car this morning... my body has already adjust to the cold
The worst thing is the long term is looking loooong before the snow comes back. Calling for some flakes on Thanksgiving and Black Friday but I'm thinking it won't be shit and it will melt by Saturday.
Keeping to the gym and the Nordic Track makes me want to eat my gun... at least there is Turkey to look forward to.

Re: Skiing with the Significant Other
Ahahahahahah! Aren't they the cutest thing? She froze up and cried
They cry when it's steep, they cry when it's cold, and they cry when it's too fast.
That's my signal too. Everytime she starts crying, I know it's time to take the skis off and head back home...
They are so sweet... : )
Hey, maybe it's not as bad as we thought:

Re: Skiing with the Significant Other
Not great for me. I'm just outside that 2-8cm.
I'm trying to think where I can go that's in that heavy band. 8cm won't be enough for me.

Don't worry. No one was harmed except an onion.
^^^^That terrain looks wife friendly (two thumbs up):
Looks cold though... luckily mine doesn't complain about that much unless I make her sleep outside in it. I think 40°F was the coldest we ever made it a night in the tent. She thought she was going to have hypothermia
