A slope of less than 1/10 is considered "expert" ?

Yes Ron. It's exactly the same pitch for the entire 7.5 miles...

And what is considered an expert XC ski, is probably considered fairly easy or intermediate for a telemark or AT skier.

From what I can gather you really don't like backcountry skiing in the east. I don't think you'd hold up. Thank god there are groomed xc centers and ski resorts for those like you who turn their nose up at what others find enjoyable.

Actually, I'll ski about anything..including my backyard!
And I'll race down a bunny hill/green with joy if it's soft and smooth!
And BC skiing in Vermont looks like it's quite fun at times!
I just find the rating of runs and trails quite interesting..at times..
