Weird ski stuff for sale on eBay

Post by Woodserson » Mon Nov 22, 2021 8:43 am

This is a Coors branded K2 ski that has shape AND is capped, with the plastic rental tail protector, all of which places the ski from the late 90's early 2000's.

Yet it has an older Look binding with no brakes on it-- late 70's I would think.

And it's being sold for low low price of $589.

Is it my imagination or are those bindings mounted for a HUGE boot?

Not your imagination. Basically they found old bindings slammed them on, called it vintage because of the bindings, and are hoping someone will fork over $600!

Those velcro--closure Merrell boots were extremely popular for a couple of seasons, but the fad ended fairly quickly, as users found that the velcro iced up, making it hard to keep the boots closed, esp. for those skiers that wouldn't/didn't wear gaiters. Some skiers replaced the velcro with Voile straps and had bombproof boot closures, but I'll bet most of those boots got tossed into Goodwill donation bins.

My first tele boots were merrils with the velcro back in 85. They couldn't take the abuse of an out of control beginner tele crasher and they blew out. Whoever I bought them from replaced them for me and I never blew out another boot.

I would say that you guys either fell for a fashion craze, or liked to get out on the slopes as fast as humanly possible.
