I would truly enjoy quite immensely being on those skis in the conditions they were designed for.
Just for @Musk Ox maybe with some manageable downhills and some flailing Danes trying to catch me. However no babies should be harmed on this adventure!

I'm going to buy a 510 cm pair, I see no logical or moral reason to stop at a mere 270, none of you will be able to match my skills of a skier amidst the winter pines.

Long review short, these mythical beauties are FABULOUS. 270cm of pure fabulous glide. 270cm of smooth forest bliss. MORE flotation and MORE stability than Voile's fatty Vectors, but without sacrificing speed and glide on the flats. Amazing and surprising geometry, amazing and surprising flex.

Can you list the side-cut dimensions on these?
Manufacturer website is thin on specs...

They list as Width=70mm.
Is that tip (ala Fischer)? or at balance point?

Maximum Stability and Efficiency; maybe at the expense of "turnability"? Yes, please.

How do you like the waxless base on these? Now that you've had them for a while.

I believe those skis are 70mm wide across the entire length, with exception of the very tip and tail.

When the snow is so soft that you need a 270cm ski to float, surely you don't really need sidecut?

The soft tip may help you turn.

This is one of the amazing feature of the Metsa: it has a reverse sidecut profile. Sort of the opposite of what you have on all your skis. The width is around 70mm for most of the length. Only with streamlined, tapered tips getting narrower down to around 60mm near the tips. And very subtle taper on the tails. (See pictures)

The 79cm long waxless pattern is perfect! I wouldn't say they are impossible to turn, but with the 270cm longitudinal hold they have on the snow, you need quite some speed and open spaces to engage in a turn. I see the Metsas as super stable (and super fun!) snowshoes!
