Ahahahahah!
Yeah but you know what happened since Ron is in charge of marketing for Voile?
The binding doesn't work with REAL XCD shoes anymore...!!

Hi volks,
skis in range 230-270 (sometimes even 300 and more) are common and very traditional in Finland. They are the so called "metsäsukset", litterally translated "forest skis". Finland is mostly flat, so thse are good XC, narrow & fast and with good capacity on powder. Of course are not ideal for XCD.
Regards

gfwp - that is some interesting information and made me think for a minute. Finland is quite covered with lakes as well, no?
I bet a ski like that would be good in Boundary Waters/Quetico or most anywhere in Northern Ontario where it's flat and mostly dominated by lakes. A big long ski like that would be good for covering ground on the frozen water (possibly with a heavy pack or a pulk).
Thanks for the clarification.
In case you don't know where I'm speaking of:

Seems not improbable...MikeK wrote:A big long ski like that would be good for covering ground on the frozen water (possibly with a heavy pack or a pulk).
I wonder if Karhu is seriously thinking those new BC skis are more marketable than abandoned GT, 10th Mtn and Guide.
Seems not probable...

Karhu has made skis like the Hunt and Jakt for years. They're not replacements for the XCD skis marketed in NA in the past.

I didn't know that.Dongshow wrote:Karhu has made skis like the Hunt and Jakt for years.
As their site says, those skis may be suitable for BC skiers who like to ramble on soft snow.

Most of the Karhu skis we are familiar with were designed and built in Canada by Karhu NA. I should say built in the Line factory if I remember correctly.
