That's why geologists came up with the measure of prominence... for just such things.

I can tell from the topo map though that Whiteface would be much more physically imposing. It's south and southeast faces are very steep on average and it's peak is very pointed. It makes it more visually stimulating.

You are almost 5 miles from where you talk about to the peak of Spokane - it's not as vertically imposing. Do I look as tall from 10 feet away as I do from 50? It's perspective.

But really, who gives a roaring fk? Right Ronny?

It's NOT science.. it's just "standard" bullshit.. like where you measure dong's dong from..better to ask lady dong..

There is actually a procedure for consistently measuring the length of your dong.

I think Dong took my advice and got the heck out of dodge... I need to get ready for skiing tomorrow - have a great weekend Ronnie.

You warmed him up for me Dong...

Do you see what I mean about the    and the    and the fk's? Sometimes he'll use those crazy smilies when he gets really riled up.

I could care less about Whiteface and verts, but it sure stirred up the Ronster... that and a shot from the grassy knoll by one-eyed jack and he's off the deep end.

So any bets on how Ron's going to act tomorrow?

I'll prolly breakdown and go for a ski..on the Runt! Our weather dude is predicting a good ski day tomorrow ! (who woulda thunk it ?? )
I made a vid regarding the silliness of the bitch-slappin' pole plant so popular with Crybar and his Mid-western friends (and to a lesser extent, also popular with our Japanese XCD brethern ), but KDT's Iphone fked up! I'll have to make more.. including the poleless pole plants vid!!

Ahh..Got to the mid-30's with a tiny bit of drizzle/ wet snow yesterday.. Spring skiing in January!
Lots of fun..Made a little vid on how I like to use my poles..or at least how I think of it..Flick the poles; don't open doors or pull like it's and XC thing..not unless ya have to..Minimize fore/aft and vertical movements of the arms! Or not..There's really usually little, if any , benefit in "reaching" any way you want to reach -- when it's really steep you reach more laterally, but that's a matter of having to "crossover" a bit more than usual because your skis have to move farther to change edges.. ..Ideally it's just hands forward and below elbows, arms and poles as outriggers sorta..  Off out in the ungroomed glop it was really hard skiing..I was doin DPP assisted hops, just like our good friend Curley !! Never got it on vid.. I overturn into a bit of a wedge when I get close to the cam ( feet/skis get out of sync and you wedge, about all there is to that ) ; was trying to show how I like to keep the hands and upperbody facing the fall line even in a traverse..Was not trying to carve much, just sliding around having fun..Yea, I know it's only a 20-degree slope..

Nice video, that really highlights your skill and gives us a reference point for when you give technique advice. Kudos!
