Only you can prevent this from being raventeles unfiltered romper room.
Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Your reading skills are about as good as your ability to take criticism. You are never going to break out of beginner/intermediate stage unless you are a little bit more open to criticism. Theres nothing wrong with being beginner/intermediate except when you are preaching about technique to others. You dont offer advice like a normal person but you preach and harp and bully your notions on those foolish enough to stick around this place. I am out super-star. Have fun wallowing in mediocrity.

Sorry Mike..
Why don't you do something useful and try and find a copy of this film ? And in the meantime i'll be looking for something to put up my a$$, so i'll be ready (just like conbro --hey, that rhymes with Jimbo )for my carving vid to come!

Don't be mad at me Ron - I'm just spreading the good word.
Connyro, If you want this forum to be cool, make it that way. Don't call us fools - Ron can be ignored. He's not the only thing going on around here. But if it's not for you, I bet I know a place that is...

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Mad , why would I be mad ?
I know Conny should be mad at himself for reading so poorly..
I ski all I want and I ski with some people who have close to perfect form-- if there is such a thing- Tele and Alpine both. They tolerate me because we all have so much fun..Some of them can almost always beat me down the hill, but it depends on the day and the snow and who is feeling what..But I gotta tell ya, in this Tele thing, experts are the worst; they agree about almost nothing.. Some will say the 7flaws is just a shit vid, others will defend it to the end..

Welcome to your forum Connyro!
Ahahahahahahahahah! PLEASE, do not go! This is WAY too funny! Much too funny to be ignored... Cool vid Ron, thanks for sharing... But this conversation is historic. It sure will make it to the site's top quotes...!
Connyro: If I could offer that skier some tips? If you were to pivot more at the hips you would be able to carve a little. Keep working on it and you will get there!
Ron: If the real focus is carving, then get locked heels and be done with it..
Carving is THE MOST interesting thing in telemark (After XCD with leathers of course : )
It's the summum bonum of telemark skiing. It's the ultimate skiing experience (After with XCD). It's the living end. There's nothing I like better than carving at eye-watering speeds, whether it's short, medium or long radius turns. Even carving short turns at very low speed is a million times more fun than skidding. It takes time and devotion to get there, but once you know how to perfectly carve every turn, there's no turning back. Carving (and XCD) is my life. Skidding with parabolic skis is nothing but a lack of skills.
That said, it doesn't matter much in the end, it's all about fun, no matter if you like your fun skidded or carved!
But hey, why not enjoy tele at it's fullest?

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Johnny gets it. Carving on skis, tele or alpine is a blast. Skidding is cool too, essential for bumps.
Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
I guess I don't get the dichotomy?
Can one not partially carve a turn? I think so.
I have quite a hard time carving on something so steep. Things happen faster and I don't (didn't) always have the confidence in the skis (or other skiers).
Carving is much easier on a green run. You don't have to worry about going too fast and transitions happen slower. I got up to carving on blues and even then sometimes I'd still botch it... or feel out of control.
Seems to me only the best of the best can carve steep terrain, and even then, I doubt they carve every turn or the whole turn unless they are racing.
I've never claimed to be an expert skier though - I'm intermediate at best on shaped skis. If I got into ski racing I think I'd be a lot more interested in carving steep terrain. You'd actually have some goal in mind.

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
^^ The answer is yes , Mike..and the steeper it is the more you are going to skid a little at the start of your turns no matter who says different..Most any turn is going to be a mix ..How can you roll your skis flat and then onto the other edges and NOT skid just a bit ?
Here's a great vid-- and BTW I think ConnyBro needs some "carving underwear"!
And, seriously, who does not practice this ? and look at that great angulation from the hips! Oh wait, what's that?
