The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Here's the other school of thought/technique for the "pure carved turn" ( find a way in doing anything skiing and you'll find someone to crrect it.. ) and there's no analogue for this in Telemark..obviously..If you are gonna carve just like this, it will not be a Tele turn..Again if the obsession is the most awesome carving, get some alpine gear and be done with it..

It's all fun! I feel sorry for you Ron, anyone who has a different viewpoint than you or disagrees with you is automatically dismissed or called out as wrong because of you extreme myopic view. Lighten up, it's okay if some people want to, or can, carve telemark turns. Carving isn't about speed control, it's about riding the sidecut and that smooth feeling and pulling Gs.

Holy shit Ron... There's absolutely no difference in a pure alpine or telemark carved turn, it just takes a lot more skills and finesse to do it on telemark. The balance and angulation must be perfect. Of course there's not a lot people doing it, as again, it's the highest rank of the telly spectrum.
I have nothing against skidding, I spent the 80's skidding my life away on straight Volkls. And that was great back then. But yeah, there's absolutely no point in skidding when you have the opportunity to smoothly ride the sidecut...
Have a few runs with me, I'll show you...
Look Ron, no skidding..!

Gee boys,
I am just pointing out the obvious: while you may be able to Tele carve like the alpiner in the first vid above, there's NO WAY to match the carving in the second vid with a Tele turn..just no way to match it technically..I love using my edges too..I guess i'll have to prove it! Ha ha , but the irony is I knew I had to try and head off a flame war re carving when I posted my vid, so I made it clear I was not trying to carve in that uneven glop much at all..I might as well have said "oh Connie , come bitch about hip angulation"..
"Was not trying to carve much, just sliding around having fun..Yea, I know it's only a 20-degree slope.."
In any case there's no way to match the carving in the second vid other than on alpine gear.

Oh Ron - you don't have to prove anything... just ski and have fun. You knew you were going to get it by putting that video up there... and mostly because you've spent so much time criticizing everyone else.
If anything prove it to yourself and better yourself. If you aren't concerned about carving at mach 2 down double blacks, then don't worry about it. For me, I could care less... I have zero interest in skiing anything that steep that isn't covered in beautiful powder.

WHEN I put up my carving vid, criticize it FOR CARVING..When I say I am not carving what's the point in a critique of hip angle issues RELATING to carving? WTF, don't be fatuous If you want to really carve, stay off the steeps generally

Oh boy. I was only trying to help raventele. You took it way to far. I have two points to make. 1. Nobody was talking about full on steep carving. Heres what I said: "...and start to carve a little." A LITTLE. Not all day long, super fast around children, on steeps, its the only way to tele, or anything like that. 2. I saw that video that you posted and realized that you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, your hands are out in front but the rest of your form is timid skiddy backseat skiing. I was hoping to help out a little. You ever see that happy days when the fonz tries to say he is 'wrong' but cant? Yeah, thats you: "wro wrowro...wro wro...!"
I saw this thread and looked at it thinking it was for XCD stoke but instead theres a lunatic in here who is intolerant of everyone else. No offense intended to anyone else here, but why do you let this guy lash out and scare off new members? The rest of you guys seem somewhat reasonable and agreeable but this ravingtele guy is way over the top. Is he the site owners cousin or something?

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
So, are you saying that you can't use a technique that is used to teach the progression of a carved alpine turns to make telemark turns? That's pretty profound. Here's a video that describes what everyone else is talking about here Ron and you fail to grasp(well maybe Mikey too)Raventele wrote:Gee boys,

Now, there is NO way that an alpiner can use this telemark technique to make a carved alpine turn.
Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
^^^ Really Shitshow ? You are that dense? The fkin second vid shows a way of using the skeletal structure to carve that ABSOLUETLY CANNOT be matched in Tele ! It's physically impossible ..the DH leg is barely bent..END OF FKIN' Story ..
And the urmas vid only proves to make my points: carve on very smooth surfaces, lower angles and there's now way to angle the lower leg and get the skeletal support that can be gotten for carving as per my second alpine carving vid if you elect to carve tele

He stupid..Show me all the skiddiing frame by frame , except for where I skidded up to the cam and told you all I did so on purpose.. ..Your eyes are brown..rising tide..STFU..I told you I was not carving, and i also told you I skidded up to the cam ..Fkin learn to read..connyro wrote:Oh boy.
