I love junky old skis off of classifieds, but I have had bad experiences P-texing them. Don't P-tex if you can avoid it. Melted-in P-tex does not hold glide wax well. Old, improperly stored bases tend to be soft and crumbly, and the melted-in P-tex is a lot harder. You will either end up with high spots (bad!), or sand away too much of the old base around the repair, either way leaving the base worse off than it was before. The smaller the P-tex patch, the harder to sand properly. Don't scrape P-tex on skis without metal edges, too easy to have the scraper dig in or skip and leave tiny horizontal gouges. First give the bases a good sanding lengthwise, 100-150 grit, to remove the oxidized top layer and give it structure. A flat, structured base is more important than glide wax IMO. Then if there are any deep, wide, diagonal or horizontal gouges remaining (ones that can pull the ski sideways), fill those in. Lengthwise gouges don't affect tracking and IMO should not be filled in. Old bases also tend to get little hairs after sanding. You can knock most of those off by pulling a sharp metal scraper or blade angled away from the direction of pull.

If you are not looking for the fastest skis, hot waxing 12 pairs is not my idea of a good time.

ScottyBob skis are supposed to be really nice.

This reads like some Hunter S. Thompson gonzo journalism: “Summit County is Decadent and Depraved,” or something along those lines.
We had 12 pairs of skis, 2 bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, 5 sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multicolored waxes, klisters, scrapers, laughers. This is marmot country!

A couple pics to show width of skis and holes. It would be nice to know what were mounted on these and or what fits these hole patterns to avoid adding holes. Some even have threaded inserts.

Look at that camber of the Scotty Bob Bobtails compared to the others!

I also picked up a pair of Goode powder skis with Marker Griffon bindings (older version, not GripWalk compatible) of CL for $55. These wide enough? They need ptex as the keys on one edge are showing, but I got them mainly for the bindings.

And the whole quiver: 12 pairs for case of Budw', the thrift store fish scale Rossi's that are delaminating, and powder skis. Ten of them have no bindings.
Should I see a doctor???

Yeah, those powder skis on the end look like Danny DeVito walking into a bar.

Picked this up off Craigs for $60, the tackle box, its contents, and the iron. The two blue Swix's, scraper and measurer (inch and cm) are what I had prior. The red Swix is a "T0197B FINE STEEL" brush with a single row of blue nylon bristle groups around the perimeter. The Ptex will come in handy on the powder skis, though I need to get some Metal Grip ptex to go over a chunk with exposed edge keys.

Lots of stuff there.

Some of those bases look cooked, but I’ve seen some be brought back with some work. Rougher ones might take a stone grind (techs can tell you where it might be cost effective).

Did a few sets of used DH skis for the grandkids a while back. Maybe five hours of work per set… really good brush out, diamond file and hone edges, set the angles, wax remover, hot scrapes, reapply base prep, then hard wax, brush out, and polish. Stuff I never did to my skis when I was young… ha ha.

Nothing that needed a ptex candle (it looks like a few of yours may have needed that at some point in their lives).

Roto brushes would have cut the time in half. I have enough tools and can’t see spending $1k on a full setup. But if you know a guy who has them, see if they’d lend them out for a spell.
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.

I think this was a great deal. Like mr. Fisheater said before, you will also want swix green for colder days.

Fun thing about Craigslist: there's often a story.

For the wax kit, the gent was moving back to the UK so was downsizing. Very friendly chap, 5/5 stars.

For the ski quiver, what I presume to be the guys' wife was helping carry skis to the wagon, in the middle of a snow storm, at night, and there was a toy hauler trailer in the drive way. The "listed" price was "$1,234" but the description said "for a case of Budweiser." I'll let your collective imaginations take it from there. :D
